First I take one, then hours or days later, I take another. That’s the start of the collection.
If you’ve been following Japan Pics for a while, you’ll know about my umbrealla and ‘Japan at work’ series. I have plenty more images to add to both of those from my recent 6th trip to Japan - but I’ve added a few more collections along the way. This includes hoses, door step gardens - and Panasonic Shutters.
This is perhaps the strangest collection, the one I never thought I’d take, but as I said, it starts with one image and grows. I’m pretty sure this is the extent of the collection for now, so I won’t be adding to it until I return to Japan.
I’m not sure why every time I see one of these stores their shutters are down - perhaps I’ve walked past dozens more and not even realised it. Either way, it’s one more thing that delights me as I walk around the streets of Japan.
My favourites are the first one in Kurashiki with the art outside, and the one above with the drinks machine in Toyo-oka.
Many of these shops are in shotengai - covered shopping arcades. That’s another series I will be publishing soon. On this latest trip I visited shotengai in Osaka, Takaoka, Kichijoji, Kurashiki, Toyo-oka, and Onomichi.
There’s lots more photos coming in the next few weeks.
Special shout out to Jonathan for becoming my latest paid subscriber, thank you so much for supporting Japan Pics!
Cheers
